What is the YouTube title length checker?

Use this local checker to test a video title before upload. YouTube’s published upload guidance sets a 100-character limit for video titles, and this tool flags drafts from 90 characters onward so you have room to edit.

How the 100-character check works

The checker counts Unicode grapheme clusters, showing close at 90–99 and at-limit at 100. YouTube Studio also rejects some invalid characters, so this is a length check only and cannot replace the upload form’s validation.

Example

In “Three-step video editing for beginners ✂️”, the scissors emoji is handled as one visible character. A 94-character version is marked close, giving you a prompt to remove filler before upload.

How to use

  1. Enter a video title or compare title variations.
  2. Review the visible-character total and 100-character status.
  3. Copy the summary, then make the final check in YouTube Studio.

Frequently asked questions

What is the YouTube title maximum?

This tool uses the 100-character limit stated in YouTube’s upload guidance.

Is display truncation the same as the limit?

No. Search and device layouts can truncate a shorter title, so lead with the useful information even when under 100 characters.

Does it check invalid characters?

No. It only measures length. Use YouTube Studio as the final check for invalid-character messages.
