What does the Social Media Hashtag Counter do?

Paste a post draft to find hashtags beginning with # and review their total, unique count and duplicates. Platforms use different tag rules, so this general-purpose counter does not claim one cross-platform maximum or connect to any social account.

Recognition and de-duplication

A # at the start of text or after a non-word character followed by letters, numbers, marks or underscores is counted as a tag. Comparison uses Unicode NFC normalisation and case-insensitive matching, so #Launch and #launch (and equivalent accents) de-duplicate. A # inside a word is ignored.

Example

“#Launch #launch #台灣 #台灣 #café #café” produces 6 total tags, 3 unique tags and 3 duplicates. Keep intentional repetition or remove accidental copies before you publish.

How to use

  1. Paste a full post or a sequence of hashtags.
  2. Review total hashtags, unique hashtags and duplicates.
  3. Copy the summary and apply your target platform’s current rules.

Frequently asked questions

Is there one hashtag limit for all social platforms?

No. Rules vary by platform and publishing format, so the tool reports your input without inventing a universal limit.

Are #Launch and #launch duplicates?

They count twice in the total but once in the unique-hashtag total.

Does it support Chinese and accented tags?

Yes. It recognises Unicode letters, numbers, marks and underscores, including equivalent composed and combining accents.
