Calculate influencer CPE

What does influencer CPE measure?

Influencer CPE, or cost per engagement, divides a creator quote by the engagements a post receives. It can compare the cost of audience reactions, but only when engagement definitions match and when those reactions are relevant to the campaign goal.

Influencer CPE formula

Influencer CPE = creator quote ÷ engagements. Engagements must be greater than zero. Results are comparable only when every proposal uses the same engagement definition.

Worked influencer CPE example

A $5,000 creator quote that generates 400 qualifying engagements has a $12.50 CPE. If most reactions came from a giveaway mechanic, that number alone does not show durable brand interest.

How to use

  1. Decide which events count as engagement before comparing any creators.
  2. Enter the partnership quote and total qualifying engagements for the same content and reporting window.
  3. Use CPE with comment quality, saves, clicks and conversions rather than treating it as a sales metric.

Frequently asked questions

Should likes, comments and saves have equal weight?

Basic CPE adds them together. If your objective values saves or qualified comments more, define a documented weighted model and use it consistently.

Can CPE predict revenue?

Not on its own. CPE measures the cost of reactions; revenue needs reliable click, attribution, conversion and margin data.

Why cannot I calculate CPE with zero engagements?

There is no finite cost per engagement when the denominator is zero. Record the lack of response and investigate the audience, concept and creative instead.
