Crop ratio

What does an image crop tool do?

An image crop tool keeps the part of an image within a chosen proportion for square posts, vertical short-video covers or banners. Preview and export use the same focal position so you can keep the subject in frame before downloading.

Crop-ratio and focal-point logic

The tool finds the largest crop rectangle inside the source image that matches the selected aspect ratio. Horizontal and vertical focal points position that rectangle within its available movement; Canvas exports the same source rectangle shown by the preview.

Short-video cover example

To turn a wide event photo into a vertical short-video cover, choose 9:16 and move the horizontal focal point toward the presenter. The crop keeps the key person while removing the sides without altering the original file.

How to use

  1. Choose a JPG, PNG or WebP image.
  2. Choose a common ratio or enter a custom width and height, then adjust the focal sliders.
  3. Review the visual crop, process it and download the new image.

Frequently asked questions

Do the focal sliders change the image itself?

No. They only move the crop window over the original pixels; the original file is not modified.

What can I enter for a custom ratio?

Enter positive whole-number width and height values, such as 3 and 2 for 3:2. Both values must be greater than zero.

Does cropping reduce resolution?

The export retains the crop area's original pixel density. Total pixels fall because the visible area is smaller, but the tool does not additionally resize the crop.
