Calculate discounted price and savings
What does a discount calculator do?
A discount calculator helps plan promotions, check coupon codes and verify product-page pricing. It applies the remaining percentage to the original price and also shows the amount saved, avoiding manual conversion between a percentage and currency amount.
Calculation method
Savings = original price × discount percentage ÷ 100; discounted price = original price − savings. A 0% discount preserves the original price and 100% produces zero. Discounts above 100% are rejected because they normally have no standard commercial meaning.
Promotion example
For an original price of 1,000 and a 15.5% discount, savings are 155 and the discounted price is 845. If your shop accepts whole currency units only, apply its own final rounding rule before publishing.
How to use
- Enter the original price and a discount from 0% to 100%.
- Calculate to see the discounted price and savings.
- Check the figures against your shop currency, tax and rounding policy.
Frequently asked questions
Can I calculate 0%?
Yes. It returns the unchanged original price and zero savings, which is useful as a baseline without an offer.
Why is 120% rejected?
Ordinary discounts range from 0% to 100%. More than 100% creates a negative price and should normally use refund, subsidy or other business rules.
Does this include tax?
No. It works only with the entered price and discount. Use the VAT / tax calculator when tax needs to be added or removed.
